Moonraker black a TVR specific colour ?

Been to Halfrauds and their machine recognises neither the name nor the paint code.
Is it known as anything else as a run of the mill manufacturers colour.IE Rover metallic black
Or do I need to order some through a TVR dealer or paintshop ( Webbs not too far away from me.)Just being a cheapskate going to Halfrauds.

Not sure where the original colour came from, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for a TVR dealer providing a touch up stick - been waiting for a Moonraker Black one for 2 months now!

Moonraker was a popular prefix to Austin Rover colours, remember Moonraker Blue (metallic slate blue) and Moonraker Silver (boggo standard metallic silver) Montego's and Maestro's? Not sure about black though. It's abit like Stardust TVR's!

It might be worth a quick email to Balmoral Green, as he used to be an Austin Rover salesman in the early/mid 80's, he knows most things

I got a small pot of Moonraker Black touch up delivered to me from Peninsula. Think it was about £25 all in (Phew)!

i was told by my dealer that moonraker black is an old ford colour

I spoke to someone in the paint shop at the factory about this when the Griff was still in production, he reckoned it was a Mercedes colour, but would need the paint code as there were at least two variants.

I use a 'universal' black touch up for tiny chips etc,that I got from a factors, because of the colour fleck in the original paint I reckon it would be very difficult to match with a stick anyway. The small spots I have done with a straight black of the right shade are virtually invisible after a good polish.

I found that a 'brown black' rather than a 'blue black'(if you know what I mean) is the one to use on my particular car.

Sorry Griffer its not a merc colour but i agree with using strait black too touch up with I do but if you wish paint codes then ok.
