Fly eyeing up red spider (this is my first time at macro photography so take it easy with me) Taken with Nikon 8700.

Focusing is crucial in any macro photography (well... any type of photography really but especially macro). It is kind of interesting that you've (or the camera has) chosen to focus in between the subjects, but it doesn't quite work for me. Focusing on the fly's eyes would have been perfect. Try manual focus. It would probably work better (though I'm not really familiar with your camera...)

This only happened in few seconds and the bugger flew off.

Not too bad for switching it on and shoot it straight away in about 3-4 seconds and it produced this by Prosumer Camera (non dSLR).
