Dear All,
I'm trying to find some pictures of the new GT3 from Porsche. Anyone know a good source. Particulary interested in the rear wing.
Thanks in advance.

You could pop into a dealership and pick up the little brochure they have? It's not that great but I'm sure it has a picture. Otherwise www.porsche.co.uk has some pics in the GT3 section.

It's a very fiddly wing - what specifically are you looking at on it?

I went to a special presentation on the car on Sat at Porsche GB. They ran us through the press briefing I think.

Do they have to be on people's driveways

That is the 997 GT3 RS wing. The other one is better looking imho.

So Paul, have you seen the light? Gonna get a proper car?

woops sorry... those 911's all look a bit similar to me... I wonder which wing performs best, the clean looking RS one or the more fiddly one?

Regarding them all looking a bit alike, I'd extend that comment to most true performance cars now. Maybe the 'light ' that can be 'seen' is that for a wing to work you need a backend shaped like a 911. Only with a clean airflow will the wing work, abrupt changes caused by engine decks, like the one on the Noble, spoil the flow and the only part of wing that ends up working is parts at the ends which get air around the sides of the car. Porsche seemed to see this light a long time ago, Ferrari with the change from 355 to 360 etc.... and Noble with the M15, be it only a very small wing...

I guess flat engine deck have been assigned to history on mid/rear engined cars.

They don't come properier than what I got already!

No, chaps, its not the wing I'm looking at. Its how they get air into their air intakes, how they duct/scoop that back end. Verrry Interezting.

I thought as much. It doesn't appear at all rocket sciency and I have similar on my 996 RS. The scoops give about 10-15bhp at 100mph although this is coupled with fancy variable intake mallarky. The claimed power increase is the same on my car, but I don't have the front scoop you can just see, set just behind the rear window. I just have a scoop under the wing.

The GT3 doesn't have these, but what about the sharksfins above the back window you see on a Koenigsegg and that crazily expensive Evo FQ400. Meant to do something for airflow too.

HayRoger - I think you are spot on about rear decks.

The vortex generators you are talking about - I know they clean up airflow from the car but do they stop the air delaminating from the rear screen too?
