This isn't one of those, 'help I am locked out' threads!!

My drivers door seems to have an intermittent fault. Some days the button pops the door, others it is 'dead' (ie makes no noise at all) and I have to open via the passenger door.

Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas on the fix?

Thanks
Matt

A very liberal spray of the button with WD40 seems to have solved my problem...

I sprayed the area of the button that you press then put the 'straw' on the WD40 and sprayed underneath the actual mirror, inside the mirror housing. Then pressed the button repeatedly for a few minutes and hey presto, it's been fine for a couple of months.

I found this bit of advice elsewhere on this forum.

I'll give it a go - cheers

Did you take the little rubber cap off the button?

I'm having exactly the same problem with my passenger door so will try the WD40 recommendation when I get home.

Look behind the door speaker, you should find a few connector blocks one of which is connected to the door button. I found that my driver side connector was badly corroded (presumably water trickles in) and cleaning that up fixed the problem.

Just had my passenger button replaced. The button can collect rainwater behind the mirror, so only a matter of time before they get rusty. I think the design of the buttons used now are better than those used when my Chim was born, or so I was told when mine was replaced.

I've drowned it in WD40 and it seems to be working fine now

Other thing to watch out for is the allen headed bolts come loose on the striker plate. Sometimes door hits it plum, other times it won't work.
