Idle Speed

Mine idles at about 750 rpm when hot but is very rough, I have to tickle the throttle for a bit to get it to idle when cold (otherwise it dies)

If I use the pedal to bring the engine speed to about 950-1k rpm it's a smooth as you like, hot or cold. I was thinking of adjusting the throttle stop to bring the idle speed up (as I under stand there is not a specific idle adjuster?).

What speed does everyone else's idle at?

Mines around 850/900.
I had problems a while ago with revs dropping off a lot when it was very hot, and this turned out to be a throttle potentiometer (I think?) that needed to be replaced.
Has run fine since that was done by Fernies.

I had a similar problem but I have just tuned mine and the book stated that it should be set-up to tick-over at about 950rpm. Runs well now both hot and cold.

Hi Max,

Didn't take you long to get one looks great. Mine idles at about 950 viewed on the laptop. The adjuster can be a bit tricky might be worth putting some WD40 round it before the weekend. Theres a back nut on the allen screw adjuster. I'd recommend checking the throttles if you haven't already done so.

Mine used to idle at about 1000 but after having the 12k service at HHC it has always idled at about 1200. It's a bit touch and go when stone cold and I need to keep the revs at about 2000 for 20sec or so but after that it is fine. Never any probs when hot.

Yep, she's a beauty! Really pleased with her, am enjoying sorting out the minor niggles.

Good tip, will take the engine cover off tomorrow and try a bit of WD. I'll be on the phone soon asking how to use the software
