I assumed they would be there in the new Sypder. Anyone know why they are not racing?

ACO decide who gets in and who doesn't. Guess they decided they didn't want the new porker on the grid..! Great shame. I'm supporting Radical/Judd instead.

I assum its due to them not meeting the guidelines in someway - most likely due to it being so new and not around for very long...

correct me if I'm wrong though!

Penske always said from the outset they would only be running in the ALMS for '06.

Expect them the be at Le Mans in 2007, nothing to do with the ACO asaik.

That's what I'd read too.

I also supect ther may be some complaints to come as they seem to be able to push the LMP1 cars for pace in ALMS...

Porsche wouldnt meet homologation rules either I would have thought as far as I am aware they havent sold any of the new cars....

which would mean they cant send off their Homologation form to the ACO.

Cant wait to see them next year - imagine the might shake a few things up if their races in ALMS are anything to go by.

Homologation isn't an issue for prototypes, I've certainly not heard of 50 Audi R10's on the road as yet anyway!

I can't see that Porsche would not have met the regulations, unless they were changed due to the car being too good like what happened top the Maser MC-12, so I guess they are just warming up this year.

This has nothing to do with homologation or anything like that. Quite simply, Porsche didn`t want them to race at Le Mans this year. They are being very cagey about their plans which I desperately take to mean positive announcements soon. If, however, Porsche decide not to dip into their substantial pockets for much longer then I beleive it will damage the (declining) brand. I do not count GT3 profit centres as dipping into their own pocket -Porsche should have a works effort looking for overall wins.

It was Penske's decision to only run in the ALMS and not abroad this year. That has nothing to do with homologation issues or the ACO (the car complies with the LMP2 rules).

Next year hopefully they will run at Le Mans because the cars are blindingly fast but at the moment they have reliability issues in the longer races.
Beautiful cars and sound great

If LMP1 & LMP2 regs have nothing to do with Homologation then why do the regulations clearly state what I mentioned in 1.2.1 on pg1!! True they dont have a production minimum but they do have to meet Homologation rules.

or do you just mean they decided not to race them - instead of it being down to regulations?

Either way... bring on 2007.
