Some time ago, one of our local MPs had called for a speed limit extension. In the Shropshire Star last night.....

"The Government road safety minister David Jamieson has given his backing to a decision NOT to extend the 30mph speed limit at Bayston Hill to encompass the Condover turn off the A49 (a distance of about half a mile and currently a 60mph limit)

"On the basis of the criteria that we use to decide appropriate speed limits an extension would be very difficuly to justify," said Mr Jamieson.

"In addition, West Merica Police have confirmed that they would not support an extension in this case"

The minister added "The introduction of speed limits is very carefully controlled so as not to impose an inappropriate limit that would not appear reasonable to most drivers in the prevailing conditions""

So what do you think about that eh? This road is outside of the council's jurisdiction and comes under the Highways Agency. Fortunately though the council here have a very sensible approach to speed limits. It's busy-body Paul Marsden MP who called for the extension possibly just to keep his profile up.

The important bit there is the council.

I objected to a proposed blanket 40 from 60 on open moorland.

The police objected.

The council did it anyway.

Bad government judgement, extending power to these loony, econut, non-driving, car-hating bunch of retards.

Bark...........
