How long to change a thermostat on Mk2 1.6 Golf?
Discussion
Peice of cake uncle Carz.
Proceed as follows:
At the bottom of the radiator is a hose that leads to the water pump/ thermostat housing.
The thermostat housing is located on the underside of the water pump housing and is attached with 2 10mm headed bolts.
Make sure that the coolant is cold before you undo these to gain access to the thermostat.
The new thermostat should have an "o" ring that has a slot in its inner circumference and the thermostat slips into it providing a seal to both sides of the housing.
Refit as removed, and job done.
Dont forget to refill it tho!
Hope this helps.
Takes about 15mins if yer quick.
editted twice cos i cant spell "quick"
