Chimaera differential
Discussion
Over the past 200 miles, a kind of grinding bearing noise has started on my Chimaera 4.0 (sort of sounds like binding brake discs - but it isnt unfortunately!), it is coming from the diff and getting gradually louder - most noticeable with the hood up. The sound is definitely coming from the passenger side rear rather than the centre, so I am wondering if it might be the output shaft bearing to the n/s wheel.
I know it is a GKN diff, but dont know much more than this. Has anyone had any similar problems or can someone offer advice? I would like to know the cheapest way to fix it... is there any potential to replace likely culprits or is it an instant recon or replacement job?
Cheers guys - the car is not very popular at the moment!

took the diff out myself (not easy) then got my local indie to refurb and refit.
The parts came from the ?gearbox man? but are aftermarket as no originals left; was up having one of the seals replaced last night due to minor weeping from one side, so all sorted and ready for Le Mans now; can't wait !!
perhaps drop me an email if you want more info
