Floppy UJ's.....anyone know which ones I need??

My steering uj's have oodles of play in them.....does anyone know a part number or origin for some new ones...

I just can't stop can I

Steering column has weird ones i think Mike. The splines are different sizes.

I'm becoming a bit of an expert on this (not by choice) after I fitted power steering to my 83 Tasmin. Fitted everything without a problem but just couldn't get hold of a bottom steering UJ of the correct size. In the end I put the manual rack back in until I source the correct UJ.
Generally there seem to be 3 sizes of splined hole 9/16"" , 11/16" and 3/4" which equates to about 14.?mm, 17.4mm and 18.9mm. Just to complicate matters the UJ yokes also come in different lengths.
I have half a dozen new ones that I have aquired in trying to resolve this. If you post a pic of what you need I may have one.

Mike, I was just going to take them off and go to the TVR dealers, they had a box different ones used on the older models and they would match them or ship it to RT racing he will change them over for you.

I got new ones from the guys below. Not sure on the measurements, but the UJ fits the Manual Cortina rack, and the power Cortina Rack, and the SD1 column I have. If you have a TR7 column, it is a different TOP UJ, and maybe so for the Ford Column of the latter cars. They can also make you a splined thingy of your desired length.

Wonder if mine is an sd1 column/rack, my previous 350i was a manual cortina rack, but maybe the 390 is a bit different, it's got power steering....any ideas chaps?

Manual Cortina rack uses a 9/16 splined shaft as does the TR7 column. So it's all dead easy everything is 9/16". The Cortina power steering rack uses an 11/16" 40 splined shaft and to my knowledge there aren't any different sized Cortina power steering racks (but I will stand corrected on this).
I have a TR7 Steering column which uses the 9/16" splined shaft. I don't know what the SD1 and Granada columns used.
I suspect all the variations is why the dealers don't really want to supply new joints and would rather recondition an old one.........and who can blame them. Didn't help me though, as I didn't have an old joint in the first place.
