Warning - Water Temp 214!!!!

Bloody sensors! Now I know what the beeps were on Sunday, when I couldn't see the display in the sunlight, one second I'm pootling along at 50, water temp - 59, oil temp - 49 (just set off), then, beeps everywhere, WARNING - Water Temp 214 Deg.!! What! Is my engine a super conductor for water, is it nuclear powered - or, is my sensor a bit duff?
In all seriousness though, would a duff water temp sensor effect the operation of the engine, via the ECU? Don't know whether to get it changed or not...

Mine went on my T350. Sat in 'stand still' traffic and steam started pissing out of the bonnet at an alarming rate. I immedaitely stopped the engine, got out and the whole engine was boiling (you could hear all the fluids bubbling).
The water temp sensor had packed in, in turn this packed in the fan switch so the fans didn't think they needed to come on, in turn boiled all the fluids.
Luckily i caught it in time before any damage was done.

Ive got 2 brand new water sensors in the back of the car atm! If Silverstone havent got any let me know and Ill have them sent to you.

I was told by my dealer that the fans are controlled by a different thermostst to the eater sensor, so a water swnsor failure is inconvenient but not dangerous. Is he wrong?
I have a small coolant leak from the off side end of the radiator (possibly a loose connector but i cant see). If I keep the header tank topped up then all is OK, but if the tank gets low then the water temp is all over the place, with rapid swings from 95 to over 100 deg, and I get water sensor failure errors. But if I keep it topped up then NO water sensor errors. So, I ask myself, are these sensor failures real, or just a side effect of low water levels?

Well, I made it to SP, with sensor reading temps ranging from 40 (after two hours hard driving!), to over 250!!! just got back! I went to the wrong one, should have gone to the Bicester branch! lol I have every confidence in SP sorting it all out for me - David, yes, SP have all the 'add ons' required for a complete clutch assembly replacement, thank you bud 
Talking of sorted, that SP turbocharged MR2 was simply fantastic, on the drive home (once I swapped with Chan!) What an absolutely fantastic handling car that is, and the grunt from that turbo! I want one! I love it! Almost 200bhp, and all of it easily accessible!

? OK for the clutch assembly...what about having a water sensor?

I think they are pretty easy. £35 and one of them is yours. A chat with any Indy or Dealer will give you instuctions or I can ask and get detailed ones.
