Hi all, strange question but one which I hope someone can answer...

My father has around 20,000 slides (mostly of trains, planes and automobiles) and would like to transfer these into electronic format (probably DVD) to save space and prevent any degradation of the original media.

Now how should he go about doing this? He would like to do this himself, maintaining the original quality of the images. Is there a device which can assist him?

Easiest way would be to get a scanner with slide capability. Scan all of the slides onto a folder on your hard drive and then use something like Sonic RecordNow to copy all of the files onto the DVD.

You'l be wanting a slide scanner,
Also check the lifetime and storage requirements of the DVDR's you use.
