Are they all much of a muchness?

I need one to scan in documents, nothing too fancy, printed output. Is there a world of difference in quality? Are there any features to look for? Any particular brand / store offering good deals right now?

I put in a Scanjet 7650 w. ADF in recently - it was reported to be awesome compared to the cheap MFP it replaced. Came with Paperport too which was nice. If you're scanning lots of multi-page stuff its a real arse if you get a cheap one that keeps misfeeding cause it means you have to stand there and babysit it, instead of PHing with a coffee, work smarter not harder thats what I say

If its the odd bit of A4 documentation a mickey mouse £15 will do the job admirably.

Think of them like power tools, the odd bit of use fine, daily then you're going to need to stick you hand in your pocket and get something proper.

Ahh cheers. It's for work, scanning in documents, mainly printed, some handwritten - just a back up to the original paperwork. However, at some point I may decide to start scanning in old photos to back up the originals.
