Just when I thought it was safe to go for a nice long drive in the sun today KAPUT
Zeeee engine goes kaput Why me.

What makes it even worst is when the recovery flatbed turns up and the driver gets out and say "We've been out quite a few times to you lately haven't we sir".

Sorry to hear that - today would be a great driving day and I'm certainly missing mine.
Do you know what's wrong with it (engine sick, or dead?)

Will not idle, not running on all cylinders, very strong smell of fuel & smoke eminating from engine bay.
On its way to Gatwick TVR just got to wait to for the dreaded phone call to hear whats wrong.

"We havent had to rebuild an engine under warranty in four months. Now we have real quality control"

Mr Moleskin in the Soaraway Sun today

At least you should get it rebuilt quickly as they cant have a backlog, or is it wear and tear and therefore the warranty is void

Hold your horses! Noone mentioned the 'R' word. It sounds more like fuelling to me or electrics.

He didn't mention any of the tell tail symptoms of a engine requiring a top end rebuild.

Really could be as simple as the leads (running on less than 6, fuel smell etc). Lets hope it is....

Edited to say: and he said 'under warranty' (which is his main concern as he put the warranty on the cars because he believes in the current spec). That's not to say there's 100 non-warranty engines in the queue for repair

Now your scaring me with the R word. I dont think its that bad I hope, just feels like at the time. Had no sudden increase in oil or water use infact i have'nt had to top up the oil since ive had car from new. But I have been getting an annoying rattling lately ???????

An annoying rattling? When? All the time? At idle?

There are loads of reasons for that (and most aren't that serious). The most common being under load when t350's commonly pink, or the exhaust rattling as the engine moves.

Don't panic. Unless the engine rattles at tickover, you start consuming lots of oil etc I'm sure it will be something simpler (and cheaper) to fix.

No engine usually sounds fine at tickover and when underload once warmed up, never had any pinking either.
I can only hear the rattling when the car is on the move. (Thats a joke like I can hear anythink else with TVR power super sport exhausts)

So mine didn't need to go to Blackpool then?

They replaced more than the headgasket, its running smoother and is a lot less tappety than it has ever been now (so they replaced something in the valvetrain too).

Hope its a quick fix for you.Agree it sounds more like electrics than anything mechanical.I had a rattle at low revs that sounded louder in reverse which was a bit alarming .It turned out to be a mounting point.

Racing Green rebuilt mine under warranty (got it back 3 weeks ago), so I guess technically he wasn't telling porkies about that one. Maybe TVR diverted Targarama's engine to TVR Power instead of Blackpool...

Well got the phone call today No.5 injector had failed. Staying fully open it had flooded No.5 cylinder and sump contaminating all the oil. Dealer not sure if it damaged the cats but engine is undamaged and running ok.
So no engine rebuild thank God, pick car up Saturday.

Zooooom - huge sigh of relief, glad it wasn't more serious!

Scott - My engine's problem was one of the bearings on the chains at the front of the engine broke up and some bits got in the scavenger pump causing it to sieze - was quite dramatic in terms of smoke out of the exhaust! Repair was basically a lot of bearings, new pump, new sump, new chains etc.

Cheers for the info, that's another one to add to my worrying it certainly doesn't sound to pretty or cheap
