For the last 10 years I have always managed to build and sort out my own PC!

I am not a PC technician by the way - no training whatsoever!!!

Having just coffed up for a load of new superfast, uptodate (welltheywereontuesdaywhenIorderedthem) etc etc - I just wondered if anyone had any tips for my new XP Pro installation - I want to get it just right.

Cheers - Khushy

Put CD in drive, wait.

Best to manage the machine post installation than try to be clever during installation...

The only thing I do during installation usually is default everything to UK settings. Don't know if it makes any difference at all, but makes me feel happier...

Though it should be clever enough to allow you to destroy the US keyboard settings before first boot.

Lazy coding, theres no excuse...

As these chaps said - there really isn't anything different you can do.

If you are doing multiple machines in a corporate environment then you can do a million things.

But ultimatly I still stick the CD in and wait too.

Arse. The only servers at this end are sat under a desk. Must try and wangle an a/c unit to keep my toes cool...

Nah, you need a server ROOM. I'd wangle that on Health & Safety grounds

Pods, do you have the fancy dancy under floor venting too? Like Microsoft?

i.e. raised flooring.

BTW this is all related - make installing XP so much quicker
