This lack of supply could potentially put a significant number griffs off the road for something frustratingly straightforward to fix, subject to parts availabilty.
Any thoughts?
Exactly the same has just happened to me but with a coolant pipe. Sure, easier to get around the issue than a windscreen (I'm buying an ACT one) but still annoying that simple parts can't be sourced easily.

Update for you all.
Have not managed to locate a 'screen in the whole country. Even tried Tom at Bell Hill for a 2nd hand one. However managed to get a repair done by a helpfull bloke at national autowindscreens.

did the 3rd post down on this thread not say they had them in stock?

Make of this what you will...
I have access to the stock of four glass suppliers. In some cases, buying direct from the dealer can be cheaper and it also ensures that the glass is OE.
Recently I took a job on to replace a windscreen for a '96 Griff; three of the four suppliers showed nil stock however the fourth (who are owned by the same company that own the windscreen replacement company that used to sponsor a West London football team) showed nine in stock. In the time it took to convey the good news to the customer (with a view to securing the job) that stock of nine windscreens disappeared.
After politely complaining about this, I was then told there are none in the country so I then preceded to call a list of TVR dealers. As many of you already know: "sorry, none in the country" was the immediate response. I then spoke to the supplier again (the one with the phantom stock) who was sympathetic to the problem with the disclosure of stock. Low and behold, he 'found' a screen which has just been delivered this morning.
Despite my itchy head, I can't help but think that there is something a bit strange going on. Given that many insurance companies 'approve' certain windscreen replacement companies to their policy holders (others are rail-roaded to alternative replacement companies who either manufacture their own screens, or surprise-surprise, rely on the stock showing/not showing with the supplier that is owned by the same establishment that own the 'other' windscreen replacement company that used to sponsor a Premier League football team based in West London).
Please note, (for any libel cases pending) this is just my theory and is not based on any material facts. But these nine Griffith screens were showing last week and have subsequently disappeared. The same people who told me of this disappearance have now 'drip-fed' me the one screen that is now ready for collection.
Hmmm.

I don't know who you spoke to but we do have some stock of Griffith/Chimaera windscreens.
Mail me if you need one. Please let me know where you are and if you have insurance cover.
Have you still got any Phil ?? are they as difficult to fit as a Wedge ?? Will you come to my work (leek North Staffs ST14) and fit one ??
Sounds like alien abductions to me..
Badred - having owned a Griff and had the misfortune of having the windscreen replaced - I would advise getting a known expert like Phil to replace the screen.
Is it as difficult as a wedge - harder I would say.
Make sure a new rubber trim is used too.
If it can be repaired - then go that route as a screen in a Griff can be a night mare.
It took Autoglass 6 different attempts to do the job and it was never right after. How I wish I took the advice offer on here at the time and used someone else but my insurance refused to use anyone except Autoglass for replacement.

Just to confirm that we do have around thirty Griffiths screens in stock. Call me on 0117 304 2000, ask for Phil Lomas.
Incidentally, there are no more Griffiths/Chimaera doorglass available so we are going to lay down new tooling for probably thirty sets initially, just as we did with the Wedge side glasses.
We are also likely to go ahead with an order for ten heated Wedge screens to be made by Pilkington in the next couple of weeks.

So, Phil Lomas @ mobile windscreens has a stock of Griff screens which is great
and I would trust him to fit one as he fitted one in my 400SE and did a fine job
Now the only problem is my insurance company (who will have to remaim nameless) will not pay Phil anything like the true cost of the Screen
they are insistent that I use a well known breakdown service with 3 letters who also do windscreens. I have spoken to this company in India, and my local branch (they did sound like they know what they are doing) and they say they have a screen and will fit it no problem Thursday PM
Has anyone else used this well known breakdown service with 3 letters?? they are a big name in roadside assitance but are they any good at screens ??? Do I take the chance or do I pay Phil out of my own pocket to do the job ??
Help Please
