Hi all,
had a brake light failure recently (both sides) on my 97 Chimaera.
Checked fuse and pedal switch - found to be OK.

Fault eventually traced to the 9-pin connector that is located behind the access panel behind the passenger's seat - green wire with purple stripe. The contacts had become slightly tarnished and was causing a 6.7k ohm resistance in the circuit. Cleaned up all of the contacts and BINGO, back to normal.

Thought that this might be useful info for you all - a good first place to look if failure occurs or maybe a good idea to clean them up in routine maintenance. The brake lights wiring (in connector) is green with purple strip. Must by Steve's book so I have a wiring diagram to work from - much easier than tracing yourself.

Cheers,
Matt
