Dilema and some advice please
Discussion
I've been very lucky to have been kicked out of the office for 8 weeks on gardening leave after i told them i was resigning. I only have 3 weeks left! Anyway, I have a 996 TT and have used the time to start taking it to the track. I had done a few corp days before but never gone with my own car. I have been absolutely blown away by how much fun it is and am now truly bitten by the bug.
So as i have decided to start doing a fair amount of track time, the 6 million dollar question is: Do i keep the TT and perhaps upgrade some bits, get a GT3 or maybe even a GT2? Frankly, i bought the TT for the road and had considered a GT3 at the time, but after driving it on the B roads thought the TT would be a bit more comfortable. Having now done some track time, i don't realy see the point in thrashing down a bumpy B road on the limit.
The front discs on the TT have strated to get a couple of hairline cracks (5 track days) but aside from that the wear and tear has been fairly minimal (new break fluid next week). I suspect wear and tear on a GT3 would be a litle bit less over time as it is lighter, but would it offset the inevitable cost of changing cars and would I notice a massive difference on the track, bearing in mind i am not a driving God?
Oh what a terrible dilema!
p.s. I have a a feeling the 4WD may have been keeping me out of trouble
thanks

The answer is.............42
Alternatively put an order in for the new 997GT3, should be better on road than the 996GT3, but ideal for the track days. I honestly wouldn't mess around with the Turbo beyond getting track day tyres (maybe x-74 suspension, get ready to loose fillings) otherwise it will affect it's re-sale value, track modified TT's aren't known for good re-sale.
If you want to stick to Pork, the GT3 is definitely the better track car & modifications don't really affect re-sale because they were built for the track, but they are hard to live with on a daily basis, unless you are hardcore.
if you don't want to go 997GT3, my advice would be to try a few more track days in your standard car & if you still love it, keep the TT & get a caterham!
With regards to GT3 mods the hardcore track guys will no doubt be able to help.
