Two questions....
Discussion
Took the cerb for a long run yesterday (6.5 hour round trip) to see my dad, in terms of running it behaved faultlessly and was a joy to drive. Two questions, one annoying the other a little worrying.
1) Worrying first, on the way back I went the scenic route through the lanes, took it slowly-ish as it's very narrow, the oil light flickered on and off twice. The gauge dropped a little but this could be because I immediately took my foot of the gas (dropped maybe 10-15 PSI) to about 55, but no lower. I stopped, checked the oil level and it was exactly at half way. Engine sounded normal so started up and it seemed okay, took it easy for the rest of the way (including a 10 minutes trip on the motorway from one junction to the next). Oil pressure was a steady 70 PSI at motorway speeds.
My immediate thinking that's it's most likely to be the pressure sender or a dodgy connection, but why did the gauge drop? Was it because I came off the gas? Seemed a-okay afterwards. Or could it be somthing as simple as the oil needs to be kept at the high mark and I think I was going around a corner at the time?
2) As I pulled onto my drive I've noticed the exhaust has started to blow slightly at the back, not had a look underneath so could be a joint or a hole in the back box. Where's the best place to get a back box from and any idea of what I should be paying?
Thanks guys

If you have sports pipes it'll almost certainly be the welded joint where the pipe enters the rear silencer. The exhaust hanging point at the rear is just before the rear box, so all the weight of the rear silencer is unsupported and puts extra stress upon the welded joint there...shouldnt cost much to have re-welded,pop along to an exhaust centre and chat up one of the guys there...they may even do it for a 'drink' as they love to drool over these motors!

Yep, that's my plan

I sleeved and welded mine recently after this happened. Pretty straightforward, hardest bit was getting the box off the intermediate pipes where there had been some surface corrosion. If you have got the welder and grinder out its worth opening up the box, taking out the baffles and re-welding back up. If you dont you will most likely have a rattly exhaust before too long! They are another common failure as the exhaust ages. Plus the fact it sounds fantastic
NEVER RUN WITH LOW OIL!!!!
Jeez, check your oil as often as you can and ALWAYS run at the MAX mark.
The only time you'd ever want it lower is for a dyno power run or trip up the 1/4 mile. Even the 1/4 mile would be risking it due to surge.
A min and max mark doesn't mean anywhere between, it should always be on the max.
