993 power steering leak
Discussion
My 1st PH post and it's on behalf of my bother!
My brother has just discovered a puddle of power steering fluid under the front of his 993,almost slap bang in the middle of the front car, having checked the reservoir in the engine compartment he says it's totally empty.
Any thoughts or a common problem? He hasn't had the car that long and it's been faultless so far.
Is a trip to a indy specialist on the cards?

Don't know the power steering system on a normally aspirated 993, but he should seek telephone advice from the specialist that he's going to take it to on whether he can drive it there. Risk of damaging the thing if he drives it while empty, so may need a low-loader to be on the safe side.
The seals in the 993 racks do go over time and assuming it is the rack, it is definitely not a good idea to drive it without fluid in the system or your brother will end up with a bigger bill for a new pas pump too.
However if the leak is quite slow, it may be possible to just top up the reservoir rather than get recovered to the garage by the RAC/AA.
From memory recon racks are about £500 ex vat plus fitting. Eurocarparts.com probably list them.
Good Luck,
Ian D
