Need new Boots, any advice?.......
Discussion
Putting on my Alpine Stars the other day and the Zip on the Left boot broke. OK, I thought I'll dig out the 'retired' Daytonas which I crashed in a couple of years ago and scuffed the right boot - unfortunately I obviously hadn't washed off all the battery acid that went on the boot and it has a hole in it where the leather has gone rotten. So, in desperation, I went out in 1 A/Star & 1 Daytona which, although functional, looks a bit 'eccentric' to say the least.
I need to get some new boots and am seeing lots of new models out there, I'm a bit put off the A/Stars as although I'm sure they offer good protection mine have fallen apart quite rapidly and my Daytonas whilst they were excellent had a very thin (wear out quickly) sole. I'm looking at the Sidi Vertigo/Vertigo Corsa which look good in a techno sort of way, anyone got them?, any good? Otherwise any other recommendations?, don't want to spend too much (Daytona Security Evos etc) but want good protection.

Thanks guys, BTW I found this video about 'Sidi Vertigo Corsa Air' which is a bit of a mouthful but they do look good and yes very 'ski-bootish'

My sidi verts have lasted about 7 years so far and are just about dead but I loved them to bits. I think wearing them through this winter may have stretched them a bit (thick socks) though. I went to J&S in northwich and tried some of the new ones on and the amount of plastic and crap on them is just absurd and they looked like they'd last about a year as some of the trim was looking decidedly weak already. I tried on some alpinestars which were a bit better but they all seem to be trying to out do each other in encasing your feet in plastic shite. Gave up in the end and ordered some altbergs for all year round use.

Just to throw a spanner in the works. I have a pair of Alpinestar Maxx (Biaggi) boots which are around 10 years old and they are fine.
Only thing i have done is to re-glue the velcro to one toe slider.
Great comfy boots. Not sure if quality is still the same now of course..
I want some new more neutral coloured boots soon so ll be interested in the outcome of this..

2 very important things
1) I had my sidi zip replaced when it split open (at a fall from 10mph!!) for £10 at my local cobblers with a metal zip, not plastic - cheaper than buying new boots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) dont chuck the old boots, put them on ebay, I got £40 for my old set even though they were pretty finished.

Good Idea, I'll look into that, always worth having some spare boots anyway.
