Massive Performance !
Discussion
Basically I've been getting very troubled lately. I have discovered a veritable swathe of what I considered to be "lesser" cars can beat me away from the lights. Granted I have been stationary in the inside lane, and they have driven through the outside at 20 mph or more before I get going, but I wouldn't want that to stand in the way of my dissapointment.
The last one was a Mondeo "E spec" well it has a little "e" stuck on the back of it (white on a green background) and I think thats what it means.. I've looked up some figures on Autocar and found that despite it listing the 0-60 of my car as 4.7, 4,8, 4.9, 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5 seconds, clearly that didn't stand up aganist the 11 seconds of the E spec.
Having looked into induction I have concluded that I need to get a proper performance induction kit so have ditched the horrid sponge thing in the nosecone for a "performance K&N filter" in purple
also I have been to the local music shop and purchased a set of trumpets. Having removed 22mm from one end of them I am now working out how to install them under the bonnet. Either way its going to look good with all that "blinging brass" under there !
The exhaust has also been troubling me too so I have opted for the full neutering pre-cat mid-cat end-cat de-cat cat-d wite-off option. Basically by cutting the Y piece straight half near the top I reckon that the gases would get directed downwards under the car so I've missed everything else off..! I'm not actually expecting any performance gains but it will make children cry at 50 yards and set off shop alarms. ..ooo wow! Mr. "E spec" will quake in my wake !
Brakes have had to be next as the "E spec" barely made it round the bend into the 30 limit over the pedestrian crossing. Investigations lead me to the scrap yard (best place for performance car parts
) and I am now the proud owner of a rusty 2 door capri cosworth. By using it upright (so I am told) I can remove the callipo's (I'm guessing the cooling effect of the lolly will aid slowing somwhow) and bolt them straight onto my car along with 278, 283, and 285mm discs. All I need now is to find a 281mm disc from something else and I've got a full set for all corners of the Chimaera.
Whilst there I noticed that the Capri was standing near a set of 18" Cerbera wheels, so I've bought them as well. Not going to let the old 4 stud - 5 stud problem stand in my way, I'm just going to bolt them on with 4 out of the 5, afterall if the 4 would hold the old wheels on then 4 should hold the new ones on. I think they are lighter anyway so that will help and there is certainly less rubber in the 255/35/18"s so that must save weight - I think looking at it that I'll skim off any further excess rubber on the wheelarches at the front too.
I'll have him next time..
...and that M5 and that S2000, and that Evo, and that F355...

It's a hire car...and thus, the worlds fastest car (behind my 1.4 306 of course...
)
Are these even faster than white diesel vans
?A friend is in the police. He has recently been having his first advanced driving lessons. What cars does his force use for these sessions? Unmarked civilian cars. Where do they get them from? Hire companies. So the next time a Hertz rental car closes on you very quickly and then sticks to your bumper before dissapearing over the horizon, there is a chance it is a police training session. You might think this was completely mad. My friend certainly did.
Surprised and concerned that you might be wasting your money on things which will not really affect your Chim's performance or improve safety. A bloke I shared a cab ride with last week swore blind he got blistering performance out of his 4.5 by clipping two England flags to the windows - something about breaking the drag coefficient of the screen? The stage two tuning process requires flame decals down the sides and these are available from Halfords at reasonable prices, but make sure you get the ones approved for TVRs - they smell of GF resin when hot. Finally, your plan to attach unsuitable wheels is overambitious. Everyone knows the handling is transformed by fitting Rostyle wheels from a 1600E.

It's a hire car...No sh!t sherlock

Clearly I should have clarified that. It's a hire car, ergo it'll have the living sh*t thrapped out of it, so of course it's quicker that a TVR. In fact, the only thing quicker would be Mungo in his LCR...

Hadn't thought of that... ! Perhaps I can take the 18" spiders back!? In fact the Capri Cosworth had a nice set of Steel rims on it
