Price of Ferrari Powertrain Warranty

What if something breaks?
Ooooh, about £40k for a new engine.
Bigger balls than me.
And bear in mind that a BMW M3 warranty is £1800 a year.
I'd pay it.
Sooooooooo. Is that the Ferrari factory price for a dressed or undressed engine then?
And how many 360s have you heard of requiring such replacement (a straw poll against M3s would make very interesting reading I suspect)?
A rebuild on a 360 might be 10-12k or so, but even these aren't exactly common on a well looked after car.
And if you were seriously unlucky and broke the block, all the pistons etc, there are other options over and above a brand new engine (quite a few 360s have been written off now...).
Have a word with some of the indie specialists and see how often they've had to run a warranty claim through. Talk to them about reliability etc and make an informed decision.
Some sort of warranty may be handy for electrics etc, but on a car that age I wouldn't go overboard (for the record, I didn't renew the warranty on my 7yr old 355 a couple of years ago).
Also, note that Ferrari are as bad as anyone else at trying to wriggle from warranty claims. And Powertrain warranties are very limited in what they cover (Power are better, and used to be cheaper, but take heed of the wriggling comment).
