Fuel Tank Treatment!

I am nearing the time I need to fit the tanks, and wondered if any of you have some pearls of wisdom that you would share with me?

Would it be worthwhile to treat the tanks with some sort of long-term protective coating against external corrosion?

Would it be worthwhile covering it in a ceramic coating or heat-resistant mat to protect against the engine bay temps?

Anything else to watch for, or to consider?

I painted the underside and the ends then covered the other surfaces with the GF backed ali foil as used under the rear clip.
Joints and edges are covered with silver duck tape. Looks good and probably keeps the fuel a little cooler although that was not the reason for doing it.

I don't think the tanks absorb much heat, they seemed to be cooled by the side vents and are low down enough not to be affected by the exhaust. I had probes all over the engine bay for a test last year and found the tanks see ambient temperature + a few degrees only. So protection from the elements is the key, unless anyone else has found different?

As I said the reason for using the foil was not heat related.
I have used the foil in the past and for whatever reason it does not seem to oxidise in the same way as bare ali and therefore needs little maintenance. Once in position with oil coolers and the like in the way you do not want to be trying to polish ali or a paint finish.
