chimera buying guide - things to look for
Discussion
If they are, at least in your mind, unreliable then why do you want to buy one? You sure know how to endear yourself to a group of people, don't you?
If you are serious then join the TVR car club, go to some meetings, talk to some owners and buy Steve Heath's book on the Griffith & Chimaera colloquially known as "the Bible"

Welcome!
I'm genuinely surprised to see that you saw many TVRs broken down. As long as they're looked after there aren't generally many problems...
If you're thinking about a Chimaera then they're probably the most reliable of all. The engine and drive-train are simple and proven and so any problems are generally secondary in nature.
Anyway, take a look at my website: TVR Chimaera Buyer's Guide, and let us know if you have any more questions.

Hmmm... I was in Le Mans and didn't see a single broken Tiv. Did see a couple of Astons in trouble, smelt a Corvette with a very poorly clutch, saw a VeeDub camper in flames on the way home (hope everyone ok guys, gutted for you... looked v nasty), but all the Tivs I saw were going like clockwork (if ticking a bit raucously)
