Just looked at your profile Dave, i see you had a Sunbeam with a Holbay engine, my first car was a Sunbeam Rapier H120. At the time i thought it was the fastest thing on four wheels, mind you it was 1980

Hope some of the Northern Trackers come down.....

I live next door to Jenks and my better half is from up North that I can understand even the pie eating, the flat beer the accent (nice on women) the weather the disatance from the Eurotunnel, the proximity to John Prescott, the road works that are perpetual on the M6, Coronation Street, Emmerdale that other thing on a Sunday (have you seen how old the Hospital is!), the anti Yorkshire thing, the Red Rose, the fact that the M62 is a crap fog ridden motorway, Cloggs, more pies, Manchester Terriers Sunday lunch at the in laws followed by a 250 mile trip home, Rugby League.......all this I understand........but Orpington!

I'll have you know I am from God's own country not that damp western province!

It's southerners that have the flat warm beer iirc, most woman seem to quite like Sean Bean's accent (South Yorkshire), who wants to be near the French anyway, Yorkshire terriers - OK we won't go into that, what's wrong with horizontal rain and the rose is WHITE.

Orpington - it is pretty dire. I used to live outside the M25 but proximity to work and in-laws was a priority given how long it takes to drive, or should I say serial park, anywhere down here. Now Ken wants to concrete over even the green spaces that are left.

Anybody remember the car advert? "most inhospitable place on the planet"

I've signed up - my first track day with the old girl. Really looking forward to it as it's been off the road for a while and I haven't had a chance to get out in it much this year.

Hope you take it easy on a newbie with an 'ole S

yep,

interesting track and not too difficult to remember

ards instructors there (FREE) so book with them, you can do more than 1 session with them if you want.

lots else going on, in and around the track scene, so you'll be busy all day.

sessioned (Rookies/intermediates/Experienced) so you won't be in with Nigel Mansell (tho possibly Mike Caine!) just people of similar abilities.
Extra Breifing with Ducks and Drakes laps to show you the lines.

what more could you want? book via the club office 01952 822 126

ALL INSIDE THE M25!!!

Hi Andy.

Sent you an email at the TVRCC today about track insurance, but I think that's been answered on another forum now.

Can you take passengers? My 15 yr old son is with me for the first two weeks of his summer holidays, and if it's possible for him to come along and share the fun I'll try to clear the 24th to come along.

Oh - don't have helmets; can they be hired on the day or would I have to sort that before hand?

Cheers

Lee

Lee,

was checking into insurance again (it comes up regular ) AON competition car insurance are the main one, for me integral insurance with policy is the only real option.

I do have a spare seat, you'll have to grab me asap as its usually gets full and I'll have to check on age. I believe it 16 for passengers - can't be sure - I'll check. Lots for him to do otherwise tho.

Helmets, the TVRCC doesn't rent them. You'll have buy and make sure they are typeA/ or B so you can access all tracks/meets with it.
I can loan you a lid tho if required. I have a couple of Spare mediums (as its your first day )

cheers

Andy,

You're a gent. I'll keep in touch as if I can make the 24th (will need to decide definitely by Monday) I'll take you up on the offer a your spare lid. Medium'd fine - that's me, Mr Average!

Could I take my Son as a passenger? As I said, totally naive about these things. If I could, does the same age restriction apply - i.e. 16? Or is it best to check directly with Brands?

Certainly hope that I can make it as I'm getting a bit fired up and don't want to have to wait until a later meet. BTW, what should I expect in terms of wear'n'tear? My Tam will have just had it's 6k service the week before so tyres and brakes are new. Will I need new ones afterwards!!
