I had the day off / was working from home so I thought I'd take the opportunity to pop down to Austec's to speak to Paul about a couple of upgrades (MBE and suspension). He has a first class set up and was more than happy to take time out to educate me in all things cerbera. He has recomended an MBE upgrade to begin with followed by a suspension upgrade. After decussing the various options (of which he can do all and is not biased!) I got excited about th intrax upgrade - now i'm not mechnically minded by any means but these things seem like a serious bit of kit. he mentioned that a few cerbs had opted for them already, does anyone on here have any experienes with them??

Looking forward to seeing the results from the MBE re map

Intrax is the nuts. All the rest like Gaz/Protech are not worthy. The upper-line of Intrax is in a similar league as Ohlins and prices fair pretty well in comparison. I would like to see a track-guru hit a track with these on.

Come to think of it, do we have a Pistonheads stig?????

Something Austec Racing has been cooking up behind the scenes, basically Intrax are the german race shocks people who supply most of the worlds best behind the scenes, but one of those need to know basis kinda thing like Pectel in the ECU department.... god knows how Paul pulled it off, but if these are available for all tivvers, then happy days is here! The chance to have Ohlin shock performance levels at hopefully ubber prices

.. they're Dutch not German ...

.. they seem to be born out of the long established White Power motorbike suspension business .. you know who used to work for them? Guy at Nitron .. another great TVR link

So gaz/protech/intrax are about the same price. Has anybody tried them yet. I'd be interested to find out how they compare to the other shocks.

Yep they are at the top end of the market - both in price and quality

Rough running order:

1) Intrax - £1400 + VAT
2) Nitron - £950 + VAT
3) Gaz/Protech - dunno?
4) AVO

Was chatting to Rod at Protech earlier today and mentioned how funny it is that there are about 4 high end damper manufacturers that have come from Holland, somewhere I wouldn't have thought would have been at the forefront of damper technology but they seem to really know their onions over there .. anyway the convo with Rod unfolded and it appears Intrax actually contacted Rod to design a damper for them .. lol .. admittedly it was a few years ago now but I thought it was nice to know the Protech man was in demand

It would be fun to try the intrax as I'd like to see if the intrax actually did any better then the nitrons as the price suggests.

Not sure if I'd risk a change though as I can't think how I'd want my current nitrons improved.

same thing from the land of hairy women and candle waxers...

anyway....

Some jargon on them...

The INTRAX ARS concept was developed as an uncompromised coilover system for street and performance use. INTRAX chose to design a system based upon their IRS modular Motorsport Damper's which are widely accepted at the highest level of Motorsport. This eliminated the need to buy parts from other shock companies as our competition does.

The INTRAX ARS coilover shocks are of a Mono-Tube high-pressure design. All Intrax ARS coilover are pressurized with the inert gas Nitrogen at 11 to 12 Bar. That's 11 to 12 times the pressure exerted on your body right now. This helps maintain consistent dampening at the most extreme piston shaft speeds. Intrax ARS coilovers also feature a large diameter specially heat-treated aluminum body which increases shock volume up to 150%. The utilization of aluminum and the large volume make the INTRAX ARS coilovers thermally stable under the most demanding of conditions. In addition the INTRAX ARS uses one of the largest pistons in use at 45mm and a robust piston shaft of 22mm for Mac Pherson struts and 14mm on shocks. This creates a large displacement difference between the compression and rebound stroke allowing for better low speed dampening characteristics. All of these features are constructed on a modular system derived from our Motorsport IRS program. This allows us to offer the same high quality services to the general public available previously only to our Motorsport customers. INTRAX offers custom valve setting or rebuilding for drag racing, amateur road racing and autocross.

All of this adds up to make the INTRAX ARS coilover’s the finest on the market today.

ARS FEATURES

* Large thread format for ease in ride height adjustment.
* High pressure Nitrogen charged mono-tube design.
* Force adjustable in both Rebound/Compression via 15-21 position settings.
* Large diameter design increases volume by up to 150% over original equipment design.
* Aluminum alloy body, heat treated and hard anodized to equal and exceed the Original Equipment housing.
* Alloy body is shortened to allow for maximum amount of travel.
* Large diameter piston 45mm.
* Large diameter piston shaft of 14 or 22mm.
* Modular system allows for custom valve settings and repair.

Guess what I'll be getting fitted
