Went to log into the internet (dial up at the mo) the other day, and I couldn't connect. Spent half an hour checking leads, modems etc, then went downstairs to check the phoneline. The dialing tone has changed....It's kinda normal, then goes silent for a secnd, then normal, silent, normal...etc etc...A kinda pulsating tone.

Does anyone know the cause of this, or how a get a normal dialing tone back? I know the phone has a pulse button on it, but this isn't set to pulse.

Cheers.

The tone you've described is telling you that your BT answerphone service has a message. Dial 1571 to pick them up

Or you can uncheck the box marked 'check dial tone'(or something similar).

Ok, so I called 1571, and deleted the crap messages on there, and the dialing tone is back to normal. However, still can't log into the internet. A message similar to the following is now coming up....

Verifiying username
Not Authorised or authorisation falied.

Why this all of a sudden?

Many thanks.

I don't actually have to do that...Just click on the shortcut and press "accept".
