Hello chaps and chapesses
I was caught in heavy traffic on the M3/M25 on Thursday night in the heavy snow. Anyhow the Chimaera got a bit warm, and the temperature went up to about 80 (on the gauge). The fans cut in and out as normal but I was in this situation for at least 30 minutes maybe 40.
When I started to move again the oil pressure at normal road driving speed had moved from its normal (just over 30psi) to around 20. After around 20 minutes the pressure came back, as the oil cooled I guess.
Just wanted to check whether this is normal behaviour for Mobil 1, which is what the car has got, or should I change the oil. The PO said he'd only just had it serviced, got receipts etc.
Cheers y'all

I got stuck in London traffic on thursday for a couple of hours and I had a similar thing happen.
Normally the oil is at about 35psi on startup, then once warm is between 15 and 30psi at idle. But on Thursday, sitting in traffic, the oil pressure dropped to 0 (zero) psi. If i just touched the throttle and raised the revs to about 1100rpm the pressure went back up again. I'm not really worried as it is fine again now, just something to do with extreme heat and thin oil I suppose.
I've just bought some different oil 15/50 instead of 0/40 so maybe that will make a difference?
Sure one of the resident bods will explain to us!

It should not go to zero in normal circumstances. Even with hot Mobil 1. If the pressure drops to zero and this is real, you can scrap the engine in minutes or seconds. More likely an sender problem (fault or bad connection) but assume the worse and get it checked.

Cheers Steve (my bible's just arrived by the way! Got a week till I go back home till I can read it!)

Bit of extra info that may help, at one point the needle actually dropped way below zero (as if the engine was off), but again as soon as I slightly raised the revs, the gauge rose again.
Edoted bicause my spalling is bod!!
