Top coolant hose

Anyone know what the bit of coolent pipe that goes from the nearest expantion tank near the engine to the top of the engine is off? - nine inches-ish and a slight bend (the coolent hose, that is!) Partco shudder every time I ask for TVR parts, then look amazed whrn I ask for a Sierra or Cavalier part instead!

I have a small hole in my current one.

I think they're TVR specific, ACT sell individual hoses.

Thanks for the advice Mr Axe. No rubber ones to be had anywhere, so ACT it is...almost tempting to do the whole engine to smarten it up...

Have a nice new blue silicone hose on my desk waiting ti fit to Griff...

Not had a chace to read the SH Bible yet, but presume I bleed the air out of the system once fitted through the swirl pot in front of the engine rather than the engine itself?

Most important, make sure you bleed the radiator afterwards and do it again a few days later.

Hose was a right swine to fit (not the right shape - did check this with ACT and they assured me is was!)...had to chop a bit off each end and then it still looks wrong the ACT one was a very sharp right angle, the old one more of a curve.

But got P&J running and bled the swirl pot after reading the SH Bible...drove it for a bit then bled it again...Bible did mention bleading the Rad, but could not find the two bleed vents on the top of the rad...am I being thick as there is no picture in the book and it's a right bugger to get to!

Kept an eye on coolent temp and all seems to be OK.

Rad Bleed valve on mine is on the NS of the rad. It can be opened with a screwdriver of spanner. It is a right pain to get to.

Maybe you fitted it the wrong way round. Did you find that one of the hoses was really tight?

I wonder if you have the right pipe - it sounds like you have the section that goes from radiator return to the swan neck pipe? This has a sharp bend, rather than a gradual curve.

When I fitted the Swirl to engine pipe, it was nearly straight and fitted easily.

There are different designs of expansion tank, wtih associated different hoses. My expansion tank has a short stubby outlet with a longer, curved hose (see: www.pistonheads.com/sales/images/75340-5.jpg). Others I've seen have a curved outlet with a shorter straighter hose (see: www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/85160.htm). You sure you've got the right bit for your expansion tank?
