SUDDEN ROUGH RUNNING

Idle dropped to around 650 (was 1000) and putts and splutters until well over 3000rpm. Any solutions/ideas?

Lambda sensors? - check the connectors as a first step, is it more like 4000rpm?

Have you washed the car or heavy rain?

Yeah, washed car about ten days ago and seems to have played up since - sorry to ask, but where are the sensors?
I'm taking it out in a minute - it is 3000 - 4000rpm!

Follow the exhausts as they leave the heads and where you see a senso with a wire coming out of it you stop. Follow the wires and check the connections for moisture.

Also have a look at the ECU in the passenger footwell, could be water running down the cables and causing the ECU to play up.

Why rough in lower rev range, but ok'ish over 4000rpm?

I believe that there is a cutoff in the fuel map where above it the lambdas are ignored.
