Hi everyone,
I'm from Australia, building a Diablo replica.
I am using a G50/03 gearbox and a LS2 gen 4 engine. I am using the LS2 ECU/PCM, it has had the VAT and traction control disabled. It does need to get the VSS feed from the gearbox for normal running.

Has anyone else done this before?
Is the pulse from the G50 compatable with the PCM (with table re-mappings)?
Do I need a device to convert the signal?
Should I replace the VSS with a T56 (Tremec) sensor?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Cool, a Lambo, sound nice,
How far along are you, got any photos up anywhere, always good to see what others are doing, for ideas and motivation.

Did you see “Beyond Tomorrow” on channel Ten tonight. They had a story on the Red back spider, in car and external video of it running, sounded great. They are using the boxster gearbox I believe but the obviously have a handle on the vehicle speed sensor set up, as the car was running. I think they are using a standard commodore dash. KM Rolco out of Tullamarine did the Emc and engine for it, they adapt the looms to fit other things like boats, so should be able to help

The other places you might want to try if you need help are obviously some of the other kit car manufactures, probably drb/gt40 Australia in Qld might be able to help, failing that I think there is a mob in Melbourne called “gauge works”.

If you a do it your self kind of guy you could get a battery powered oscilloscope and compare the outputs that Tremec sensor gives verses the Porsche sender. Providing that they are the same shape output there is a good chance that the Emc will work with the Porsche unit providing the voltage outputs are the same. You will obviously have to work out some way of calibrating it, you might have to work out what the number of pulses for a given speed are on the commodore unit and then match that up for the output of the Porsche unit. Might have to make another trigger wheel, do some calculations ect, could be done though.

If you want more info on how the system works get yourself a copy of the “GEN III V8 ENGINE MANAGEMENT” manual from Holden, its on the web some ware as a PDF, page 67 has the details of how it all works, and error codes. If your lucky you might even be able to get the computer to switch in to a learning mode, It looks like it might have that functionality!

Thanks for your advice.
I will first check it with a cro, I was hoping I'd get someone come back and say there compatable, just recallibrate your gauges. Then I can also just change the tables to match in the ECU.
My fall back situation will be a new sensor on the axle.
I'll try and get some photos and web site soon!

Hello,

I have the same problem: LS2 ECU and a G50 gearbox.

With connecting the computer to the Ultima speed sensor the Ultima speedometer is not working anymore.
I searched but found no possibility to fit the original Chevrolet speed sensor to my G50 gear box.

How can I deliver a VSS signal to my LS2 ECU?

Can anyone help please.

Question is do you need a Hall Effect signal of Just a Pulse counter Signal ???
Pulse counter can be taken off the Disc bell bolts with a Cheap Proximity sensor..
Hall Effect is another kettle of fish, you may need to get a Slotted disc made, to fitt between the Drive flange and the drive shaft on the gearbox side....

We have a cnc machined toothed wheel we mount on the cv flange with a hall effect sensor.
Like stated above.
Yea, we sell them too with a bracket for the sensor.
