I'm toying with the idea of updating my copy of the Steve Heath Chimaera + Griffith bible (just bought last year) with the latest 2nd edition.

Does anyone who has done this have any views on whether the differences between the two editions justify spending a further £30?

Cheers,

YUp, mine arrived last week and I started reading it last night. It looks good, with a lot more information that the first edition. So I would say it is worth the money.

Darren.

I am in discussion with the Factory right now. Can't say any more that that at the moment.

PS Thanks for the great feedback. It makes all the hours it took worthwhile.

Steve, have a bit of +ve feedback from an S owner too then.. I'm reasonably mechanically competent but with a combination of the bible and PistonHeads have been able to do a lot more to mine myself than I'd have been able to otherwise.. Having access to both of these made the difference between actually buying and just thinking 'one day I'll get round to it..'

I think this is an interesting point. I'm NOT reasonably mechanically competent, so would argue that for me the second version of the bible is not THAT much extra use, even though it is absolutely spiffing. The first version has all the essential "easy" stuff like changing the battery and lightbulbs etc. Saying that, it's a great read anyway, and am very glad I got it! Thanks Steve!

You might not want some of that extra stuff right now but at least you can have a sensible conversation with a dealer or specialist and you never know you might grow into some of the more complex stuff.

Thanks again everyone.

Well I am happy, I have just skimmed through the second edition and saw a write-up I put together for installing speakers in the Griff, it has made me a happy chappy, much to the amusement of my other half.

A complete and pleasant surprise.

Cock-on Steve. I've grown out of lying in pools of oil and grazed knuckles playing Mr.Fix-it. BUT I still need to understand where things are and what they do and how to do it - even if this means explaining to somebody else how to fix my car - or theirs! Even if I have to pay for mine now. Top Manual.

p.s. - more on Chim forum.
