When I press the button on the mirror I hear a normal sound of the door opening but nothing happens on the drivers side, however everything works fine from the inside when opening the door.

Does anybody have any tips regarding what might be wrong?

When you open it from the inside it is done mechanically, not electrically like it is from the external mirror switch.
You say it still makes a noise, you need to look where the motor is to see what it is or isn't doing.

I had exactly this problem. It turned out that the little green-lit central locking button (in the middle of that 'golf ball' shaped internal door release) had got stuck down and wasn't popping back up when the doors were opened from the inside.

I had to 'break-in' to the car and pull the button back up.

Tip the seat forward and there is a velco'd flap just towards the back of the door. Open it and you'll see the locking mechanism. Click the brass lever on the lock forward and luibricate it. The door should now work again :-)

Hi I have the same problem albeit intermittently. Traced it to the locking solenoid(behind the velcro'd flap)when I unlock the car the solenoid operates but then wont hold in the open position, ie. it drops back to locked again, new solenoid needed when I get round to it. Jump in the car with the piece of carpet lifted up and try locking/unlocking it, and get someone to operate the door button from outside to trace te problem, a good dose of WD40 and a check of the connections seemed to improve mine alhough only temporarily, Solenoids available from Maplins a report on fitting is available on the Chimaerapages website.

I found the problem and was able to fix it.

Behind the velcro on the right behind the drivers seat there are 2 motors, one to open and the other for something else. The one further back was stuck in the extended position so when I pressed the button on the mirror the coorect motor was working but was in the wrong possition to open the door.

Thanks to everyone for trying to help me with this.

FYI One motor opens the door, the other activates the lock.

Glad you got it sorted!
