Wondered if I might request some assistance again, I've been fettling up my S2 for a few track days this year and a closer look at the throttle linkage has made me think some improvements may be required.
1. Maximum planting of r foot does not open throttle fully on inlet. This seems to be an angulation problem at the engine end of the cable mechanism, Any thoughts?
2. A stronger return spring would help throttle control especially on the track. There is an obvious place for an extra spring at the engine end of the cable mechanism, but would this put to much stain on the cable (known weak point}? Looks more difficult to find a spot for a spring on the pedal itself.
3.Has anyone designed a pedal stop, adjustable for maximum throttle again to take pressure off the cable and mechanism?
look forward to hearing your ideas
cheers

You should be able to get full throttle, if the linkage is standard then it should take no more than a simple cable adjustment to get this. I fitted a throttle stop made from DIY curtain rail fittings, bolted through the front of the foot well. Fairly easy DIY mod but I can give more details if you want. You should have no problems adding an extra spring at the engine end, and I wouldn't expect any cable problems unless you go mad on the spring rate. But are you sure a heavier throttle pedal is going to improve your throttle control?

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

Thanks for your comments Peter, I certainly have a look at the adjustment, and try a few different springs to see if I can get the"feel" I want.It feels so light at the moment, I think more resistance (and quicker return) would help give better control. However may just be I have a heavy foot!
Regarding pedal stop, I had thought of a long bolt through footwell with nut either side to allow adjustment, but your idea sounds interesting, would love to hear more.
Hope to meet up at some stage
cheers

I've seen little cam wheels that change throttle response on Porsche 944's (and many other cars I suspect) I would imagine a similar thing could be fashioned to customise the throttle response on the S..

Cheers,
Matt.

It's made from DIY parts for a curtain rail, the sort consists of a 1" tube that sticks straight out from the wall, the end fittings are a sort of 'top hat' flange affair that screws to the wall with the pipe secured to it by a grub screw. I used one end fitting to attach the pipe to the back of the driver's footwell so i was sticking straight up under the pdeal, and another one on the other end to give a large area for the pedal to catch on. Bits cost about a fiver all in.

Thanks, get the general idea, I'll have a go. Added spring either side of spindle on throttle assambly at inlet.hopefully gives balanced pressure on mechanism. The springs aren't that strong but seem to improve pedal feel
