Handwashing car nightmare
Discussion
Just got up and opened mail, some numpty reported me for using a hosepipe to wash me car!!
Phone up water company explain that by using hose pipe I am actually saving upto 3/4's less water than I would if using buckets to do same job -eg 30secs hose to wet car 1xbucket to wash then 3mins hose use to rinse car versus 2x buckets to wet car 1xbucket to wash car then 4x buckets to rinse car after. It takes me less time to rinse and wet car with pipe than it takes to fill 2buckets!!!.
Worst of all girl at water company agreed!!!! but said if I continue with hosepipe I will face a fine
Rant over any one know how I can move my watersupplier to company with brain?
Big thumbsdown to Thames Water

Ah, yeah, what is it with people now adays.... rather than come up and say hey, you can't use the hose, they ring the water company. That annoys me more!!
1) This ain't australia, how the hell can the UK get droughts, it rains here every second day.
2) Leakage, this ain't a new mysterious problem.... just too lazy to do anything about it.
I would still do it.... wouldn't stop me.. and when it went to court would go, right you tell me which uses less water..

Mate of mine in UK installed a system from The Rainwater Harvesting Co & used rainwater to wash clothes, water garden, flush loo &....wash his car!! Imagine his 'smug' mush when a neighbour phoned the POLICE to complain about him using a hosepipe to wash his car during a ban!! Neighbour disappeared back into his hole!!!

I like that
Hope he is keeping an eye on that neighbour to see if he does anything 'naughty'
Yep by the sounds of the telephone conversation with water company they said MIGHT lead to prosecution, wonder wether they can be bothered espicially as here in swindon they have had two massive mains bursts in the last month, company not very popular at mo.
Any way now when washing car I am going to get hose pipe to front of house and use it to fill buckets up and make a big display of it just to entice the jobsworth to try and report me again ,as I can use a hosepipe to fill a bucket!!!! seems daft doesn't it.
I shall enjoy the use of buckets for next few weeks before the drought order is enforced!!

think I'll get the hose out this weekend and wash the 3 cars, water the garden a couple of times and fill all the neighbourhoods paddling pools. Oops I forgot they're already full - of rainwater. Would gladly swap a couple of weeks without washing the cars for some decent weather. Think '76 was last time we had anything approaching a hosepipe ban round here.
