Now there are no clutches and no ideas

AP say they are happy to make them and are ready to go....but i get the impression that TVR haven't ordered them.

is there anyone else out there who thinks my gran could do a better job at supply chain management? (and she's been dead 10 years).

e.g.

ooh, what part fails every 20k on every vehicle....hmmmm, dunno
how many vehicles do we have out there....hmmm, dunno
what is the recorded mileage at each service so we can track this....hmmm, dunno
now what kind of pipeline orders is this likely to generate so we can keep a small, but manageable series of relevant parts in stock....hmmm, dunno.

just a thought, but hey you'll need to pay me plenty for the complete solution.

i had an intresting conversation today with a promenant AP Motorsport distributor, he confirmed the above, after enquiring about being able to offer the clutches independantly ie not via TVR. He was told firstly he wouldnt be able to and that TVR themselves have none on order!

Have TVR Power not got any, I was there only a few months ago and enquired about a clutch just as a matter of interest and andy said they had loads!

Must have sold them bloody quick!

does anyone know if the speed 6 clutches are the same used in another car make, i read somewhere that Aston's use the same ones (don't know how true that is). Assuming another car manufacturer does use the same clutch and we can find out who, we could go direct to them dealers..I guess no one has this information for sure if at all ???

There are numerous opinions on what clutches from other aplications "might" be the same as the now satndard AJP/Speed six clutch, but even two AP clutches that look the same will have many differences, ie. clamping pressure, friction plate material etc

Perhaps OS Giken might be able to help? Japanese company who make twin plates for most high performance Jap applications. I'm pretty sure they'd be interested in doing something. I'll buzz them an email..

Anyone got some tech specs sizes etc or weblinks??

The correct clutch, unless I am mistaken is part no. CP5282-34GRY, which is a one fits all clutch for all AJP8 and Speed 6 engined TVRs.
Spec is 215mm / 8.5" diameter twin plate organic, the gearbox input shaft is 1" x 23 spline.

Its a 215mm organic twin plate with a 1" by 23 tooth spline on the input shaft

If AP can't sell a clutch to the public due to the contract they have with TVR, then i wonder if they could just sell the diaphram spring to the public, as most clutches would only need this to get another 20k out of the clutch, and it would be a dam site cheaper!!!!!
