Anyone had any experience of leaving a car standing (garaged) for 8 months - were there any problems with seized parts etc, electrical gremlins when you came to use the car again?

Gremlins.....keep it away from water Al, it should be ok....!

I am almost same as you Al, 12 months coming up and I expect windows, aircon and door opening to be a potential issue. I have some spares at home awaiting just in case....(altenator 100amp fuse, window processor, oil and water temp/pressure sensors and fan relays). Aircon I will get overhauled soon after I get the car back, my brother can do that as he is licensed for the gas etc...

Yikes, that's well prepared...might book the car into Racing Green on my way back from Salisbury. I just hope that Dave used the waterproof cover that I left with them, before they had the space to keep the cars permanently inside. Mine is not exactly water tight when stationary!! I had anticipated possibly getting the engine sorted only to have a load of niggly problems arise from the sitting dormant. Previously my electrics have been good - try to avoid water as much as poss. Oh well, hopefully find out some day soon.
Cheers
Al.

I take it the car hasn't just been standing on it's tyres in one spot for all that time?

Main one I suffered straight after 3 months off the road was the clutch. It was probably about due for the usual slave cylinder treatment, but having any type of seal like that unused for months on end isn't going to be good.

In first few months it would have been moved daily, in and out of the workshop - since then, it is a possibility.

Fortunately Craft have replaced the clutch with a triple-plated version, so that shouldn't be a problem.
