Hi all

The rubber hose from the fuel pipe to the injector rail on my chim has perished and I've had a look at it and think I can get it off reasonably easy. I've read a few other threads on the subject and I know that I need to get fuel injection hose and fuel hose jubilee clips, my question is, where can I get these items? Will halfrauds stock them, or a general motor factor?

The hose on there at the moment has Ford 7x13 on it, which I take is 7mm internal, 13mm external dimensions, can anyone confirm this?

Cheers for any help.

Matt.

Just replaced mine with braided hoses much better than the original rubber ones that will always perish over time with the heat that is generated under the bonnet.

Any good specialist motor factor will stock them.

They also look really good

Where did you get them? Is it an easy job to replace them? Are they pressurised all of the time?

Most decent motorfactors will stock it, and I expect halfwits will too. Just double check before you pay that it's high pressure fuel line, suitable for unleaded petrol. I think you'll struggle these days to find any that isn't, but do make sure. From memory mine was 8mm bore, but you'll find out as soon as you take the old hose off.

Cheers guys. I'll try Halfwits first as they're within walking distance...

Is the replacement proceedure just a matter of removal and replacement? Or does it require re-pressurisation / bleading?

There's a couple of ways of de-presurising in this topic here:

It looks pretty straight forward but it's a bit of a bugger to get the lower clip off.

Just remove and refit. You'll get a facefull of petrol when you disconnect the supply hose, you can avoid this by disconnecting the fuel pump and cranking the engine over for a couple of seconds to release the pressure. You'll get a cup full of fuel out of the hoses anyway so make sure you have plenty of ventilation, rags etc.

I had these. They still perished, they just perish under the braiding so that you can't see that it's perished until you smell significant amounts of fuel.

Personally, I'd stick to the standard hoses!

Any thoughts on how often these should need replacing? Is it dependant on mileage? Or time? Or both?

Thanks.
