brake upgrade

I want to upgrade the brakes in my s1 to disc,s all round to give better stopping power. but i dont want to go to the expense of a grand or two that race brakes cost especially when seirra disc,s are only 50 quid a pair.has anyone upgraded at reasonable cost(a few hundred quid)are they any good and were can i get some

RACE BRAKES on an S1!!!
Try the search facility I'm sure you'll find something there at slightly less than £1000, I've just bought a pair of new EBC discs, grooved and dimpled, retail £105 for £85 shipped, off ebay.

The rear disc conversion is quite a lot of hassle because you have to change the hubs too. Lee Boreham (Lee Bee) has done this and at one time he was talking about offering this as a kit. What are you thinking about for the front?

what most people dont realise is that (as long as you manage the heat) drums are more effective than discs. If you're not a track hero keep the rear drums, upgrade teh front discs to griff 500 size (about 350 pounds) and off you go, with decent pads/shoes and fluid of course.

Tower view do a brake upgrade, its about 800 pounds not including VAT, but why upgrade, the brakes were designed to stop a sierra a lot heavier then your S1. Brake upgrades are good if you do engine mods, if not I would leave it as it is.

Hi i am selling a pair of brand new 283mm EBC drilled/grooved front disks, with towerview tvr- made spacing brakets so to fit to the current s brake setup (calipers/hubs). I got the set from LeeBee (known member) but dont think i will fit them in my car. Since the front brakes do about 70% of the work, these should help and be much cheaper than upgrading rear brakes (too much money and little result) have a look at the classifieds.

I never had any trouble with the brakes on my S2 despite pushing it fairly hard on track. I wouldn't expect any overheating problems on public roads if they are in good order. You do need to make sure the fluid is in good condition and you have the right pads bedded in correctly though.
