It may not be quicker in a straight line but it sure as well will be on a-b times... its about time we had a relative merits of a gt3/gt2 compared to a tt discussion again

For outright speed, I think the GT2 will still be marginally quicker, as it is lighter. As for what is quicker on the road, then the TT has to get it..... Mind you, you'll still get more of a 'rush' from the GT2....... All IMHO.....

See other thread on 997 Turbo accleration figures.

GT2 was either the same 8.0 to 160kph, or 2 tenths quicker at 7.8. Would guess that the 997 has much less lag though due to the variable vane turbos.

Dunno, but my money would be on the 997 turbo just because of its variable geometry turbos. Whatever the peak power figures, the wave of torque arrives much earlier on the new turbo so it should really win the drag race. As for fastest in real world driving, that will all depend on the size of the nuts of the drivers, their relative willingness to lose their licences and whether it's raining or not!

In real world driving, lag comes into the equation, but in a drag, it would have no relevence, as there is no lag once the GT2 gets into it's stride (from previous experience, I don't recall mine having any discernable lag anywhere). The standard 996tt power tails off much earlier, I suspect they would still keep similar characteristics for the 997, altho' only time will tell.

yea .. id say the 997 tt will be a great car... cant wait to have a go in a 997 gt2.... cant beat rwd for the fun factor... 997 gt2 is meant to be 540 bhp.... !! the 996 gt2 blows averything away in its price category so i can only imagine what the 997 gt2 will be like... very scary fast...!!!
