Hi All

When I was washing my car the other day I noticed that the gap between the top of the rear tyre and the wheel arch was bigger on the passenger side than on the drivers side, the front looks fine. Having discovered this I looked at the car from a low angle both from the front and the back and from the rear view a very small tilt was obvious even to the naked eye, Slightly higher at the kerb side, lower at the drivers. I parked the car obn a flat surface and measured the distance from the rear "spoiler" to the floor and vola! the left side was nearly half an inch higher that the right.

Had anyone experienced this?
Am I just looking too closely?
Should I be worried?
Should I get a fat mate to sit in the passenger seat and even things up?

Suiggestions please

Cheers - Rippers

That'll be TVR's optional advanced levelling system in action. You're very lucky to have it fitted - With normal road camber your car will be totally level - just don't drive it on the continent without first getting TVR's reversal procedure carried out.

Nope, he's right.

Or it could be that the cars are not designed by computer, but by hand. The mold is not 100% symetrical.

Edited to say - for whatever reason in their case, BMW did this too. My brother's E36 Coupe's body is lower on one side - you can clearly see this by looking at the gap in the rear wheel arch (its not just his car - they're all the same).

It's because our roundabouts are anti-clockwise

I think you'll find that depends on the driver's age and what car they drive!

I thought that only worked when you had weight in the car

Same for me on the nearside rear, you can just get your fingers in between the tyre and the bodywork at the bottom of the back wheelarch, on the offside maybe a 1" and 1/2 gap.

The gap at the top of both sides is identical, hand made cars for you.

sideways mostly

I had this in France ,car was higher on one side than the other-and then magically after a drive it changed sides, and then again the next day.I then realised it had to do with the cars centre of mass and the road surface you were on.More noticable first time because it was parked up in an old courtyard which was about as smooth as a ploughed field.
Measure it again and it'll be different-it'll drive you nuts!

Here is another one for you.
Stand at the front of of any T350c, and look at the curve over the roof from left to right.
Edited to say......sorry just noticed you have a targa, so you won't see it
