986 S sewing machine...
Discussion
I need to do something to stop my 986 S sounding like a sewing machine! I've been trawling the interweb for ages to find an example of a decent exhaust, but I'm finding it more difficult than I thought. I had a Elise before my Boxsta and it had a nice loud Janspeed on in with an induction kit too. Now that sounded like it looked, fast! You could get those at any corner shop it seemed. Not the Porsche, maybe it's a bit vulgar to "rice up" your Porker but then I've just come back from Le Mans and I have a yearning for some more noise! The boxsta is just a bit too grown up for me at the moment, I want to get that lovely flat 6 wail put of it.
So who's got a decent exhaust on their 986, where d'you get it, how much did it cost and do you have any samples I can listen to?
Cheers, Andy

If you liked the Janspeed they'll do one for your car.
Had them buld a system fot wife's S a couple of years ago. Built from heaver guage S/steel to overcome the resonance such system can give, a different set of exhaust tips than they normally use, fitted it with a pair of their 200cpi cats...what a transformation.
Wonderful deep burble at idle and it really howls at 3500rpm onwards...nothing but compliments from those who've heard it - even the local OPC loves it!
Around £1k - well worth it though

Move the steering wheel over to the left hand side! You hear more of the induction roar from over there!
P.S. Hayward & Scott also do an exhaust for the Boxster these days and they (as in H&S) have a good reputation. I have never been in a Boxster with a non-factory exhaust though so couldn't comment.

Cheers, I've looked into the Janspeed and I reckon that'll be the one I'll get. My Elise was VERY loud but still under 105dB (which I found astonishing) and I will be tracking the Boxster so It'd need to be suitable.
I've noticed that the car sounds better when being driven by the missus! But mine is one of the facelift versions so I don't think the snorkel mod will work (had the intake grille off for a look)
Cheers
