1980 911 3.3 turbo martini. how much etc
Discussion
I am looking to invest in one of these cars . Could anyone please advise of any really sore points on these models.
Also how many where produced this year, and is there any way of telling if its an original martini or a white turbo with stripes on it. approx valuation 97k with service history?
Many thanks guys.

Mechanically presumably identical to the 3.3 930. I'd presume around £20-25k for a decent example, but I don't know the differences between a geniune one and a fake one. Anybody else help?
PS - Gmund Cars have a Martini Turbo. Don't know if it is geniune but has good provenance. I've seen it advertised for £17995 on Autotrader, even though their website (www.gmundcars.com) says £19995.

I'm a big fan of 930's for what they are, but in stock form they are crap. Go faster stripes or not. Assuming stock, you'll want to change the turbo, intercooler, boost. Then you have a 4 speed box, pants.... I'd look at a normal 930, with 5 speed, or a C2 Turbo.

my old 930 is stock and I find it far from crap. I find the turbo lag quite good fun and even like the 4 speed box, it adds to the charm of owning a old car. Don`t mean when it comes to rebuild time next year it wont end up with a highly tuned motor.....
i was thinking along the lines of 3.4 finned cylinder's, JE forged light weight pistons, Pauter rods, twin plug, flowed heads, carrera inlets, motec m600 ecu and coil pack, bb full bay cooler, nienmister headers, fab speed exhaust,hf2s turbo, ap bolts balanced ect ect. Would it be cheaper to go the twin turbo root to get around 500-550bhp ?

There are only a handful of genuine factory Martini turbos out there, both 3.0 and 3.3 litre versions.
Things got confused by fact that the Martini stripes were available as both a dealer fit option and as spare parts!
One reasonable indicator is a red white and blue leather interior - few fakes have that.
Best bet is to go to Suffolk and see Howard Watt's ( Riddelsdell Bros garage ) two Martini turbos, one white and the other black ( the only black one built ). He also knows more than a bit about the other genuine ones that still exist.
