Very good drive, thanks James. From London to Kent, then to Verwood - all the way from Kent with the top down so it was niiiice.
And, I was 'spotted' in a car park in London and they guy parked his Tusc next to me one day, and I met up with another Tiv owner to drop off some photos on a CD.
So I have to say that Tiv ownership is a damned fine thing.
How old are you James? 16 isn't it? A littel while before you get your own Tiv, but until you do make sure that you enjoy yor Dad's!

Saw the other thread about that you and that chap with his Tuscan, a very rare thing to happen.

Yes 16, will get a Cerb one day
only problem is insurance, they want £11500, thats if i am 18! 
But i do enjoy dads

Don't think i could get a 5 as a first car, as it's a 1.8, so insurance would be a bit, better stick to the 1600m!
Well, as it more or less is the wife's car now, I have to wait for her to get used to the power first. She's more interested in a new mohair roof followed by wire wheels. There goes about £2k!
Dropped a couple of hints about this'n'that, and she's been quite willing to listen. Of course, there is the issue of money - now that I have the Tam to finance!
Link/ECU set-up is about £2k from the states, and the charge cooler is between £500 - £1000. Then there'd be a racing clutch upgrade. And, possibly, a new engine!! We've about 130k at the moment and although it runs incredibly sweet I'm not kidding myself that it will last forever.
BTW the mark 1 and 2 MX5s are 1.6 and 1.8l, and there's a great link in The Times motoring pages to cheap insurance for 17 year olds by linking to your parents' insurance. £371 on a £5k polo 1.2 sounds pretty good to me.......
Not really interested in the rolling road thing. Why would I want someone thrashing the nuts off my car, whilst someone else is sitting in the boot to keep the wheels on the roller?! It's only useful for "Mine's bigger than yours..." bragging...... Goodness, I must be growing old!!

We had it done. There's an exponential cost curve. The first increse of 40% is cheap; about £2k for the charger and fitting.
After that, you get fewer bangs per buck. £1k for manifold and rear pipe, £500 for suspension upgrade....then all the rest that I've mentioned.
BUT... you do end up with something quite special, and very unassuming. Gives Pork Boxter S drivers a real surprise
and they're very reliable. It's a good route to go, especially as you can pick up very good examples for about £5k. Bangs per buck, bangs per buck....

Was intending to hoon it back - until I remembered that I need to be settled in front of the TV with food'n'beer well before 4pm.
Forcast is exceelent for Saturday, so good day for top down motoring around Portland and the Purbecks. I expect that it'll be more fun than watching England play....

Mine's getting driven quite a lot, so it gets dirty more than it gets cleaned!
But I've got some great waterless wash/clean/polish stuff which makes it an enjoyable doddle. Need to have a good surface to your paint, and it should start off with a good layer of wax, but then all you have to do is spray this stuff on, wipe off, then buff up. Even does the wheels a treat.
Car is gleaming now. All ready to get filthy on it's run to Newmarket! :smile:
