Fed up with having doors and other panels dented by muppets
in car parks, I have taken to parking across 2 bays, straddling
the white line in the middle.

At the local Tesco I park away from the entrance and have had no
problems.

However it sends the local car park attendants into complete
apoplexy. Obviously there are signs to say you must park within
marked bays, so they will pounce on the car and issue a ticket.
The thing they NEVER notice is that I have purchased 2 tickets,
one for each bay :-)

They are always adamant that I should have a ticket for not parking
in the marked bays - I will counter with the fact that I have rented BOTH
bays for the hour.

The only reason they have the bit about parking in the bays is so that
you don't do them out of money, as they wouldn't be able to get money
out of the bay that you were part blocking.

I have won this argument EVERY time, even getting supervisors down
to discuss the matter.

Anyone else tried this???

No. But in order to prevent a THIRD dent to my door, I will try it the next time I go!

Thanks

Seen a murci owner argue this in Southampton. He pointed out that if he'd had a trailer as he often did with his other car, they were always OK about him buying 2 tickets then, the only difference was the spaces were side by side rather than one in front of the other, he got away with it!

This leads onto another question though... If you overstay, will you accept two parking tickets?

of course, they never ticket the numpties who park six inches over the line, thus rendering the next bay unusable.
