Handbrake warning light switch

I need to replace the handbrake warning light switch on my car as the dash warning lamp won't light up. I have removed the two wires from the switch and connected them together and the light works, so it must be the switch. However, call me thick, but I can't see how to remove the switch. It is clearly visible from under the car, with the exhaust removed, but no fixings or attachment points can be seen. Lifting the prop-shaft tunnel trim doesn't help either as nothing is visible at all. Could it be that you have to remove the fibreglass prop-shaft tunnel? If so this would be a fairly major job as all the carpets would have to be unstuck first. Any advice would be greatfully received.

Its the parking warning light that doubles for the brake warning light

From memory the top op the switch is threaded with a nut which attatches to a lug on the chassis.
If you have a look at the brake peddle switch,its exactly the same.

With the tunnel cover off you can remove the access panel to reach the handbrake switch, the panel is screwed on and the screws are probably well hidden by mastic and carpet edges but when its removed -

you can get to the bits you need.
