Hi,

is it possible to put a baby seat in the back of a 968 cabriolet (forward facing).
I know it has only lap belts in the back so seems doubtful.
Not worried abotu the size, more the method of fixation.

Otherwise, does anyone know if it is possible to install normal seatbelts back there?
Can the extra pickup point be welded in/does it aleardy exist/has anyone ever done this before?

Any porsche specialists know if this is possible and roughly how much it would cost?
I'm looking to buy a 968 cab...but i need a baby seat in the back and since i don't have one i do nto know what is or isnt possible.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

This company will certainly be able to help you out.

www.quickfitsbs.co.uk/default.asp (Rubbish website)

Even if you live too far away give them a call, because if it fits in a Porsche they will know.

They also sell buckles to enable deactivation of the airbag so any child seat can be fitted in the front. (Need the deactivation bar supplied by Porsche)

I've seen plenty of 944s and 968s with baby seats in the rear, so presumably it is possible. Cannot help with suppliers, though.

Quickfit replaced the lap belts in my 968 cab with normal belts. Belts were about £80, fitting £150. They'll also recommend a child seat that will fit - ours (i think) is a Maxi Roadie although we got it cheaper elsewhere. They'll do the fitting while you wait too - although that is 3-4 hours (there's a good cafe round the corner).

Excellent...thanks for that reply...so it has been done!

Can you please tell me if it was a professional job, etc?
ie did it look correct? Did they have to cut the seats about to thread the shoulder belt through or ?

I'm surprised Porsche did not do it, if so straight forward.

Thanks for any details you can provide, etc.
I did ring them but the guy i spoke to couldn't offhand remember dealing with a 968 cab. Although he was in sales.

cant help with baby seat advice but i'm delighted you child will be shown a shining example of automotive genius from an early age.

excellent to have some 968cab company on this forum too, it gets a bit lonely with all these hairy chested GT3 types waffling on about their PCCBs

Sorry, I can't help with the baby seat fitment - I just recall seeing the baby getting ferried away after a day on the track at Knockhill...

I'll float this question on a Porsche forum and see what results I get.

Phil,

No results to speak of on my Porsche forum, but I recommend www.porsche968uk.co.uk/phpbb/index.php which, funnily enough, are dedicated to 968s.
