I was waiting for the AA on Perry Street between Sidcup and Chislehurst yesterday afternoon, and a blue Tuscan pulled over to offer assistance, and also offered me his spare fuses. Very decent of them - thanks guys, it turned out to be a loose connection.

This, by contrast to the n0bhead in an old 3 series BMW who pulled up - Him - "broken down?" Me - "yes". Him - "bloody TVRs innit, you wanna get yourself a BMW like me". Me - "oh right". Him - "and this is my spare car too". Me - "right, great". The thing is, I don't think he was trying to take the p - he said it all with a straight face, like he was giving me advice!

What a pr!ck, and what a contrast to the Tuscan driver who had just been past before!

What a clown! Is there a smiley for "Speechless"?? I always find two responses of great value, depending on your mood and the physical size of your tormentor - always check the distance between the eyebrows...

"Your opinion, sir, is a matter of supreme indifference to me" is a goodie and if their brows knit together in puzzlement can be followed up with the evergreen "You have me confused - confused with someone who gives a "

There was 2 of them and I was on my own. Patronising sarcasm was not an option, although it was bloody tempting!

Just stay silent and smug. They just have he mediocre - cars, lives whatever.

You get the real peaks; OK, so you have to have a few troughs. But man, the peaks have to make it worth suffering the troughs. Feel sorry for them, for they know not what they do Nor what they miss.

That's kind of my philosophy too.

Well put T40ora! Anybody can run a boringly reliable car which can transport self, family and goods from point A to point B in safety and comfort. The whole point with a TVR is that you never merely "own" one, you enter into a relationship with it and love it unconditionally. It is the nature of such a relationship that you gloss over, ignore and even occasionally celebrate the imperfections. Bloke in BMW was wrong on all counts although I still cannot fathom why people bother to stop but not help!
