Hi guys,
a quick note from a new Griffith owner.
I just bought a reasonably priced LHD 4.0 from dec. 1994, with some 24000 miles on the clock.
Although I studied some time before buying the car, I still have some questions I like to have answered. The car is imported from Germany, with first date 12-12-1994.
Question: were these cars being made in 4.0 form during 1994, with a serpentine-engine *were these available in 4 litres?), 500 dashboard lay-out and 500 wheeels? Or do they come from 'old stock'?
Also: Where can I obtain an owners manual/instruction booklet?
Appreciate any comments!!
Best regards
Ben
By the way: the 2nd edition 'bible' is great stuff for newcomers to the griffiths!

Hi Ben and welcome to the crazy world of griff ownership.

I am pretty sure you can get the owners manuals from TVR at Blackpool.

As for Serpetine engine i dont think they where done in a 4.0ltr in 94 for the Griffith but i am sure i will be corrected by MR Heath if i am wrong.

hi Ben,

welcome to the gang!

your pre-serp Griff was probably produced in 1993 and then sold in 1994, that's what happened to my former Griff 4.3.

hope to meet you at one of the TVR Car Club Holland events (you are joining, aren't you?); lot's of experts there who can help you out with stuff.

Talking of which, are you guys organising another thrash round Zandvoort this Queen's Day? Let me know, I'd love to bring the Cerbera again....

Hi Ged,

Still around the Hoofddorp area I see. Indeed you are one of the 2 Cerbi's I know of in Holland.
As far as I know there is no trackday on Queen's Day, but the events of the TVR Car Club Holland can be found at:
www.tvrcarclub.nl/html/evenementen_2003.html

Hope to meet you again,
Peter (V8S).

Hi there Ben,

Great to have a new member to the Dutch Griffith family. Where do you live, maybe we can meet.

Hi there you all,
great to see that this forum is so busy and lots of people reply. Thanks for the nice welcome and advise uptill now!

To give a little bit more info on myself: I live in a small southern dutch town called Posterholt, I'm 39, and involved in the classic car scene since about 1990. I have owned several TR's and Jag's and finally have come into the 8-cylinder world through the Griffith.
I did join the dutch TVRCC recently, and met some nice guys at the annual meeting at NIMAG's on the 25th of Jan.
Regarding the Grif, I will collect it from the dealer where I purchased it, this Thursday so I'll let you know more from then on. The test drive was already best of fun, I can assure you.
I need to fix some details like a replacement mirror glass (RH) and driving light also RH. Some suggestions where to buy these best (in Holland preferably)?

Does anyone know if there are any clues on production date through the chassisnumber or is this not registered somewhere?

Bye for now,
Ben

The mirrors are from a Citroen. Go to your local Citroen dealer, he may be able to get some replacement mirror glas.

Hi Ben,

Congratulations with your excellent choice.
Which dealer did you buy it from and is it an original Dutch registered car?

Have fun,
Peter.

Peter,
I bought it from a car dealer in Soest. It has dutch plates but originates from Germany.
Finding out a bit more from the car's history is one of the next steps!
